Hurricane Earl
So.... we had a close brush with Hurricane Earl who decided to drop between 12" - 16" and give us winds over 50mph. Below are some pictures of during and after the storm. Nothing too big fortunately, just a lot of flooding and some downed branches.

Island Roads
Many of you have asked about the roads down here and why we didn't want to bring my Camry Hybrid. Take a drive down our driveway, which is 3/4 a mile and you'll understand why. Mom & I spent 3.5 Hours our first Saturday here filling in the ruts with huge rocks, while Michael weed whacked the jungle that was trying to take over. Hard work and still a bumpy ride up, but SOOO much better than it was.
Something else to get used to...driving on the left! Unlike other countries that drive on the left, the steering wheel stays on the left here so it's like being a postman everyday. Rules are reversed so you go left on red here. Why do they drive like this? Michael tells me it's because back in the days where mules and carriages were the main means of transportation, the mules chose to walk on the left. When cars were introduced they refused to move and walk on the right so that's how it remains today. Pretty amazing!
Life on St. Croix
After being here 2 weeks we're finally getting around to making our first post! Things seem to slow down on the island...including the ability to get things accomplished in a timely fashion. Unfortunately we seem to be taking to the kicked back island life style just a little too well. When you're surrounded by ocean views and sea breezes it's hard not to.
This is Cane Bay, the beach we spent our 1 year anniversary at. The views are breathtaking and the snorkeling is supposed to be as well. All of St. Croix's beaches have public access...even resort beaches, which means there are tons of amazing spots to choose from. This beach was my favorite yet out of all the beaches Michael has taken me over the last few years. Come visit us and we'll take you there!
